Physical Therapist

Thaddeus Lin, PT, DPT, is originally from Indiana but considers himself a Tucson native. He attended high school in Tucson, earned his bachelor’s degree in physiology from the University of Arizona and went on to obtain his Doctor of Physical Therapy with honors from Regis University.

Thaddeus’s interest in physical therapy began with his own experience with back pain in high school. As he searched for answers, he encountered conflicting explanations, rigid movement rules, and treatments that did not always match his experience. This led him to question common assumptions, examine the research, explore different ways of thinking about movement, and pay close attention to how the body and mind respond to interventions.

That process shaped the thoughtful and analytical approach he brings to physical therapy today. Thaddeus carefully considers the available evidence, the client’s experience, and the response to treatment rather than relying on rigid rules or dogmas about pain, injury, or how the body should move.

“I like to be as grounded in reality as possible.”

This philosophy shapes how Thaddeus approaches uncertainty. He works to separate what is known from what is assumed, identify the questions that still need to be answered, and use the treatment process to investigate them. By testing ideas against the examination and the client’s response, he can develop actionable solutions and adjust the plan as new information becomes available.

That process starts with listening.

“I try to do the absolute best job that I can at listening and understanding, and I put a huge premium on that.”

Thaddeus takes the time to understand each person’s concerns, goals, and experiences because they provide essential information about the problem and what needs to happen next. He is also careful not to make people feel fragile or afraid of movement because of an injury. His goal is to help clients develop both physical and psychological resilience by rebuilding tissue capacity and improving confidence in what their bodies can do.

At Smith Performance Center, Thaddeus works within a collaborative system that gives him the time and support to think critically about each case. He provides one-on-one care designed to help people understand their problem, make meaningful progress, and return to the activities that matter to them.
