Alex Brink

Strength Coach

Alex Brink is a strength coach in Tucson at Smith Performance Center, where he helps people build long-term strength, endurance, and confidence.

For Coach Brink, training is about the long game.

“You’re not training for today. You’re not even training for the week—you’re training for your future self.”

That mindset defines how Alex approaches coaching at Smith Performance Center. His philosophy centers on building capacity that lasts—helping people stay consistent, move well, and train in ways that support the life they want outside the gym.

“Consistency is key. Finding a modality that you enjoy and you don’t feel like you have to force yourself to do is incredibly important. You’re training for your 80-year-old self, so you have to train in a way where you can be consistent.”

For Alex, every workout is an investment.

“It’s like filling your bank account so that when you’re older, you can make withdrawals and there’s a good base to pull from.”

As a strength coach in Tucson, Alex works with clients who want training that lasts—programs that build strength for both the gym and real life.

Alex’s coaching style is calm and straightforward. He meets clients where they are, asks how things feel, and gives only the cues that matter. His goal is to help people improve without overwhelming them—guiding them toward better movement and confidence over time.

He also knows that strength training is as much mental as it is physical.

“I could tell she had it in her—it was in her head. I knew she could lift more. Sometimes you just have to talk people through that fear.”

At SPC, Alex brings that balance of patience, clarity, and intensity to every session. His background as both a strength coach and endurance athlete gives him a unique ability to connect gym work with real-world performance.

“Gym work should make your life outside the gym better. You should feel stronger hiking, more confident running, and just move through the day with more ease.”

Alex earned his B.A. in English from Northern Arizona University and is a Certified Personal Trainer.  Outside the gym, Alex enjoys trail running, hiking, and testing the same endurance and strength principles he teaches every day at Smith Performance Center in Tucson.
